Discover Your Path

Stephanie Bucklew

Why have I spent my career working with young people? Because it's my passion, my calling, and my commitment.

I always knew that I wanted to work helping young people have the self-confidence they need to fulfill their dreams. When I was in school, I wanted to become an artist. I heard from many family members that there were more stable career choices for earning a living. I spent my time in college studying for many degrees until I graduated as an art teacher. In college, I started an art program in the juvenile justice system, using art to help people through difficult times. Once I became an art teacher, it was my mission to change people's minds from thinking, "I can't draw" to “Wow, I loved my art class in school”. I wanted to let each individual grow through art to find their power and voice to express themselves.

Welcome to our counseling journey

My journey to become a therapist

I always knew I wanted to help people find their self-confidence. I started one class at a time, working on my master's in Mental Health Counseling. I gradually learned tools to help people overcome anxiety, low self-esteem, ADHD, and trauma through training and practice. I became hooked on being a therapist. Seeing the change counseling can have in someone's life is beautiful, and I did not want to give it up. Watching someone grow using the skills and techniques they learned was beautiful. Letting the client know I did not make the change is excellent. It was all their own doing. I am branching out from working with children and their families to clients of all ages who want to live a fulfilled life and discover their power.

In My Downtime

Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, exploring new places, dining out, immersing myself in nature, reading, and watching movies. Currently, I'm pursuing my doctorate with a focus on Counselor Education and Supervision . This topic aligns with my professional interests. I also cherish moments spent with friends, whether visiting a local art exhibit or museum or simply catching up over coffee. These personal interests enrich my life and inform and inspire my professional journey.
